Testimonials

Deb Henson and TommyLast October, 2010, I bought a horse after a 20 year hiatus. I had had several horses in my 20s to early 40s and enjoyed showing and trail riding. Funny, the mind thinks it was just yesterday but the body isn't as agile and the reflexes are not so quick anymore. But the ground is still hard. He was easily spooked and would spin to the left and, of course, leave me in the dust. He didn't like to have his back feet handled and he trusted his fleet feet more than me when he was afraid.

Because of these things, I became afraid of the horse I had just bought. Both of us needed a “tune up” and Larry and Arnie were the guys to do it. With great patience and teaching, they have taught us to communicate, work together, trust each other and become a team. Without Larry and Arnie, I would have let my fear overcome my desire to ride again. But now, I love to ride him on the trails and find myself riding more often and longer than I ever have, and enjoying it so much more! Thanks, guys, for making me “cowgirl up”. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Mary TaborI brought my teenage daughter, Morgan, and her paint mare, Belle, to Larry to work with on barrels. He taught Morgan proper leg cues and lead changes that allowed Belle to run naturally, without any hindrance from Morgan. I also brought my nine year old niece, Braeden, to Larry for riding lessong. Braeden had never been on a horse before, but wanted to learn to ride. Larrry did an excellent job teaching Braeden balance and leg/hand positioning. Her confidence soared! He had the horse walk while Braeden moved her arms up and down and side to side all while riding in rhythm with the horse. At one time, Larry had the horse stand still while Braeden STOOD on the horse! Her balance was unbelievable. At 53 years of age, I was so taken with what she had learned that I decided it was my turn to learn to ride. I had put it off long enough. When I brought my four year old gelding to Larry and Arnie to break and train, I decided they could "train" me too. They give individual, one-on-one lessons that are not rushed. Their way of explaining things is crystal clear. They are very patient and do not ask you to move to another lesson before you are ready. They also do not make you do something you do not feel comfortable doing. My questions have always been welcomed and respected. Even though I have tremendous "fear" issues, Larry and Arnie give me the confidence to try. I know I am safe in their capable hands; therefore, I am more relaxed and able to learn. Their belief in my ability makes me believe in myself. I am not where I want to be with my balance and riding ability just yet, but I think I am imporving with each lesson. I know that with Larry's and Arnie's help I will get there safely.

They have trained two of my horses for riding. My daughter and my niece have both taken lessons and I am currently taking riding lessons. Larry and Arnie are excellent horse trainers as well as riding insturctors. They can train your horse to be the athlete or riding companion you want them to be or they can fix any problems you may be having with your horse. I highly recommend that you let Larry and Arnie help you if you have ever had a bad riding experience, have fear issues, or just want to learn to ride. You, too, can realize that your dreams of riding safely can come true with the guidance and excellent training ability I have found in Larry Marsman and Arnie Rouse at Natchez Trace Stables.
